LG Dishwasher Error Codes

All modern LG dishwashers are equipped with full-fledged monitoring and self-diagnosis systems that can check in real time all the important details of the device’s operation. The fault code is displayed on the dashboard display in alphanumeric form.

This article describes only those error codes that are displayed to the user during normal operation of the dishwasher. To more accurately determine the cause of the problem, there is a test mode, which is launched by a special key combination: it is intended for specialists, and we will not describe it here.

For different models of LG dishwashers, the sets of error codes differ slightly, but not much. First, in the article we will describe their maximum list, and for other sets we will refer to the first table of error codes.

Code Description
I24, H01, H02 This is NOT an error code, it indicates the hourly wash delay setting. To cancel the delayed wash setting, open the dishwasher door and simultaneously press the button within 3 seconds (depending on your washing machine model): Press the NORMAL and DELICATE buttons.
01,02,03, until 24 The two-digit code indicates that the DELAYED START function is activated. The number indicates how many hours the cycle was delayed. This is not an error. Use the CANCEL function to disable the DELAY START function and begin the cycle immediately.
P1, P2, P3, P4

Selecting a cycle for dishes. This is not an error code.

  • P1: Pots and pans.
  • P2: Casseroles.
  • P3: Glassware.
  • P4: Night care.
n:xx, u:xxx, d:xx This is not an error code. This is information about the controller version. If it appears, simply turn off your device and then turn it on again.
Buzzing sound. (High temperature alarm) It's not a mistake. When you open the door immediately after the washing machine has warmed up, rinsed or dried, for safety, if the inside is hot, the buzzing sound continues. The dishwasher is telling you that it is very hot and you could get burned.

Code Description Remedy
OE Water is not pumped out of the machine in the required time

During the time allotted for draining the water after washing, the “empty tank” signal was not received from the pressure switch.

  • Defective or clogged drain hose, air in the hose: disconnect the hose, inspect it and clean it
  • The drain filter is clogged: look in the instructions on how to clean it
  • Incorrect drain connection - see dishwasher installation instructions
  • There is a leak from the drain pump or something is broken in it - call the workshop
  • Break in the power supply circuit of the pump or pressure switch: test the circuits, repair the wires and secure the contacts
  • The pressure switch is faulty: check and most likely replace

IE Problems with water supply: it either does not flow at all or takes too long to fill

There are many possible reasons, some of which you can check and eliminate yourself:

  • Water does not flow into the machine at all: the tap is turned off, the water supply pressure is low, the hose is defective or clogged, the inlet valve is clogged, etc.
  • Forgot to close the door or it is not closed tightly: the start of the washing program is blocked
  • The inlet fill valve is broken: it will have to be replaced
  • Faulty water level sensor (pressostat): diagnostics followed by replacement
  • Broken wiring or loose contacts in the circuits from the control controller to the inlet valve or pressure switch
  • The electronics are “buggy”: professional diagnostics and replacement are required if the board is faulty
EI Water leakage from hoses or their connections, leakage

A signal was received from the Aqua-Stop leak control system, after which the drain pump immediately turned on

  • Water leaks into the pan: you need to turn off the water and carefully inspect all places where there may be a leak: the body, hoses and their connections, etc.
  • The chamber is damaged: carefully examine its walls for cracks
  • The drain pump is leaking: it is unlikely to be repaired, it will have to be replaced
  • The water leakage control sensor itself is faulty or there is a short circuit in its circuit: you need to check all the wiring and contacts from the sensor to the control board, for this work it is better to contact specialists
  • The error may appear after replacing the electronic control module: try restarting the dishwasher
FE There is too much water in the machine: it does not drain or a leak has been detected

A pressure sensor or float indicates that the machine is overfilled: the reason may be a blockage or malfunction of the water supply path:

  • Open circuit in the pressure switch circuit: repair the wires and secure the contacts
  • The pressure switch is faulty: it must be checked and replaced
  • The fill valve is faulty, causing water to constantly flow into the machine: testing and replacement
  • Electronics fail: problems with them can explain anything
HE Disturbance in water heating circuits

Difficulties with heating can be caused by problems in both the temperature sensor and the heating element

  • Broken wire or loose contact in the temperature sensor circuit or the heating element power circuit
  • Short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Incorrect connection of contacts from the sensor on the control controller

In any case, if such an error occurs, it is better for you to contact a specialist, since without normal diagnostic equipment it is difficult to determine the exact cause of the problem.

TE The water does not heat up or overheats due to a faulty temperature sensor

Obviously incorrect information is received from the temperature sensor; as a result, the water in the bunker either does not heat up at all, or does not heat up to the set temperature, or overheats:

  • First, make sure that the wiring between the sensor or heating element and the control controller is in order, that all contacts and connectors are securely fastened
  • The absence of a signal from the sensor may indicate its malfunction: the faulty sensor is replaced
  • Problems in the control controller: this requires professional diagnostics and replacement of the controller
LE Failure of the circulation pump that supplies water for pressure washing

Incorrect information is received from the pump motor to the electronic controller:

  • Open circuit in the pump motor circuit: check the wiring, tighten the contacts, secure the connectors on the board
  • Foreign objects have gotten into the pump blades and are blocking them.
  • The pump is faulty: diagnostics are required, repair is possible, but not always - call service
PF There is no voltage in the mains or it periodically disappears Call an electrician to check and repair the electrical wiring: if this does not help, then there is a problem inside the device, and this time you will have to call service. You can also read about possible problems with the dishwasher's power supply in the Service Manual
Cd Not an error: message about enabling additional “cold” drying CD - short for Cool-Dry Used for drying dishes in the quick wash mode. This code is not an error.
CL Not an error: message about enabling child lock CL is short for Child-Lock. Locks the dishwasher settings, protecting them from being accidentally reset by overly curious children.
F Not an error: the sensor is currently measuring the turbidity of the water. The measurement lasts 5 minutes, then the display shows the washing time again.

Number

1-19

Not an error: shows delayed start time To cancel, you just need to turn off the machine or select a different washing program.

Sound

signal

Not an error: warning when opening the door after a high temperature cycle If washing, rinsing or drying was carried out at high temperatures, an audible alarm warns of potential danger when the machine door is opened.

Selecting a cycle for dishes. This is not an error code.

  • P1: Pots and pans.
  • P2: Casseroles.
  • P3: Glassware.
  • P4: Night care.

REASONS FOR SCALING FORMATION

The main causes of scale formation are hard water and washing at high temperatures. Hard water, so typical of water supply systems, contains many different impurities, including salts, which form scale when heated. Installing water purification filters and using water softeners helps reduce the severity of the problem, but does not solve it completely.

The higher the washing temperature, the more intensely salts are released from the water, and the more firmly it adheres to the heating element. According to many repairmen, washing at low temperatures does not lead to scale formation at all.

DISHWASHER PREVENTION FROM SCALK

  • install a filter on the water supply system to purify and soften water;
  • install a magnetic softener on the water supply hose;
  • At each wash, you can add special softeners, if, of course, they are not already in your detergent;
  • regularly remove scale using any of your favorite methods: citric acid, vinegar or chemicals.
