Typical faults of Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650/1660/1660 Ti

🔧 1. Overheating

Symptoms:

Increased fan noise

Throttling (frequency reduction under load)

Artifacts, freezes, sudden shutdowns

Causes:

Clogged radiator, worn thermal paste

Poor case ventilation

Defective thermal pads on memory chips or VRM

Solutions:

Cleaning the cooling system

Replacing thermal paste and thermal pads

Improving airflow in the case

⚡ 2. Power issues

Symptoms:

Does not turn on / no image

Shutdown under load

Driver error "NVIDIA driver stopped responding"

Causes:

Faulty capacitors or chokes

Damaged power supply circuits (VRM)

Insufficient or unstable PSU

Solutions:

Checking the power supply on the board (multimeter)

Replacing VRM components

Checking / replacing the power supply

💻 3. Memory problems (VRAM errors)

Symptoms:

Artifacts on the screen

Image distortions, "green squares"

Freezing in games

Causes:

Video memory overheating

Damaged GDDR5 / GDDR6 chips

Mechanical damage to the solder

Solutions:

Warming up / reballing the chips (in the workshop)

Replacing the memory chips (requires equipment)

🧠 4. BIOS / firmware failures

Symptoms:

Does not turn on, black screen

Errors during UEFI / BIOS initialization

Problems after unsuccessful overclocking

Solutions:

Reflashing the video card (via NVFlash)

Recovery backup of the original BIOS

🧲 5. Physical damage

Symptoms:

Not detected by the system

Errors during driver installation

Torn or damaged tracks

Causes:

Careless dismantling

Liquid ingress

Transport damage

Solutions:

Visual inspection under a microscope

Repair tracks / soldering chips

📉 6. Aging components

GTX 1650/1660/1660 Ti are still relatively fresh, but:

Elements such as MOSFETs or chokes may fail

Often detected after 2-3 years of active use
