Typical GTX 1060 malfunctions
⚠️ 1. GPU overheating
Symptoms:
– Fans are noisy, FPS drops, artifacts are possible
– Temperature exceeds 85–90°C
Causes:
– Dried thermal paste
– Clogged radiator
– Worn thermal pads on VRM and memory
Solution:
– Replace thermal paste and thermal pads
– Clean cooling
⚠️ 2. Memory chip failure (GDDR5)
Symptoms:
– Artifacts on the screen
– Blue screen (BSOD)
– Freezing under load
Causes:
– Overheating
– Defective/worn Samsung or Micron memory
Solution:
– Diagnostics via memory test (Video Memory Stress Test)
– Replace faulty BGA chip with soldering
⚠️ 3. GPU failure (soldering failure under chip)
Symptoms:
– No image
– Black screen with a running fan
– Constant reboot
Causes:
– Long-term thermal cycles
– Unsuccessful soldering at the factory
Solution:
– Reballing or replacing the GPU
– Using an IR station or a hair dryer station
⚠️ 4. Failure of the VRM (power modules)
Symptoms:
– The video card does not turn on
– The throttle beeps or overheats
Causes:
– Overclocking
– Poor MOSFET cooling
Solution:
– Replacing keys (IR, NCP, MPxxxx)
– Checking all power phases with a multimeter

Symptoms:
– The video card is not detected
– Driver errors
Causes:
– Unsuccessful firmware
– Conflict of VBIOS versions
Solution:
– Flashing the original BIOS via programmer or nvflash
